The three basic forms of everyday home bread in South Tyrol: the flatbread-like Schüttelbrot, the Vinschgerl made from two dough patties and the round Breatl all have one thing in common: they are all suitable for baking as hard bread for storage.
- 🇦🇹 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗚: Vinschgauer is a flatbread made from rye flour, water, yeast, salt and spices that is particularly popular in South Tyrol and has a regionally different appearance and taste. The dough made from natural ingredients is loosened by shaking by hand before baking and shaped into a thin flatbread. The breads are then baked in the oven at high heat for 20-30 minutes.
